Dr. Jorge Alvarado, a general practitioner from the University of Costa Rica and a master's degree in Medical Sciences and Genetics from the University of Florida is the creator of this website. Dr. Alvarado has worked in the United States doing genetic reseach and medical practice in several countries like United States, Costa Rica, Guatemala and health care missions to Africa for the HIV/AIDS projects with Doctors Without Borders (MSF). He has great knowledge in the fields of infectious diseases, genetic disorders, ginecology, pediatrics and medical research and has seen the many challenges medicine has around the world. He decided to create MediOnline to target different parts of the developed and developing world. For the developed world, he noticed that there are very high costs derived from health care in the United States. These costs are so much, that can actually pay for the visit, recovery and surgical procedure in Costa Rica, and the patient can still have money for any other procedure. Being also a scientist from the University of Florida, he has known many other colleagues that have studied in developed countries like the United States, England and Canada and have established their medical offices in Costa Rica. All this makes Costa Rica a very ideal place to have all these medical procedures in Costa Rica, with highly qualified physicians and dentists, at a very affordable price. For this reason he decided to create MedicOnline.
